[One-shot] Side Story: Moving On

Notice:This side story takes place after Chapter 14 of Shattered Hearts. The story starts when Sho had just received Emi's box and letter.

Moving On

“I am such a horrible person. Why did I let you out of my sight?” Sho shouted in his bedroom.

Sho’s mother overheard Sho shouting in his room. She was concern and wondering why Sho was screaming in his bedroom, by himself.

She walked up to Sho’s bedroom door and knocked twice.

“Sho-kun, daijobu?” Sho’s mother asked in a worried tone.

Sho looked up at his door and wiped his tears away from his eyes. He got up and answered the door. He opened the door so his mother could see his face.

“Sho-kun, what’s wrong?” His mother asked. Sho smiled and shook his head. “It’s nothing. I just lost a battle in a game that Nino-kun gave me.”

Sho’s mother grinned. She had a mother instinct that Sho was crying over something really important to him. She could see that his eyes were slightly swollen.

“Well, if you want to talk. Oto-san and I are free to listen to you.” Sho’s mother nodded her head. Sho smiled and closed the door.

Sho’s mother walked away and Sho sat on his bed again.

The reason why he was crying because he had just received Emi’s box.

He read her letter over and over again, until his heart felt like it was going to tear apart. He couldn’t help to blame himself over losing Emi.

Sho laid on his bed and stare at his ceiling. He tried to remember the happy times that he spent with Emi.

He grabbed his cell phone from his side table and stared at a picture of him and Emi, on a date.

Sho smiled and placed his cell phone close to his heart. Then tears started to slowly moved down on his cheeks.

~*~

The next morning, Sho had to do a filming for one of Arashi’s variety show. Aiba was the first one who saw him that morning. He noticed his ugly face was very swollen and his eyes were slightly bloodshot.

Aiba became worried and walked up to Sho, who was doing his hair.

“Sho-kun, daijobu? Did you have a fight with you girlfriend?” Aiba asked. Sho glanced at Aiba and continued to fix his hair.

“Gomen ne. I don’t want to talk about it.” Sho said and got up to find his wardrobe.

Aiba looked at him and the other members were sitting on the couch, in their dressing room. Aiba glanced behind him to his other members. He sighed and walked outside of the dressing room.

Aiba walked over to a vending machine and bought himself a drink. He sat down on a bench and pulled out his cell phone.

He looked through his pictures and found a picture of when Aiba and Emi were younger. Aiba placed that picture in his cell phone because when he looked at it, it gave him strength.

Aiba smiled and then he sighed. He searched through his contact list and found Emi’s phone number. He dial the number but it said that her phone was off.

Aiba knew something was up. Usually, Emi would have her phone on at this time. On his days off, he would call her around this time to talk to her.

Aiba cocked his head and threw his drink bottle in the recycling bin. He walked back to his dressing room and saw Jun, Ohno and Nino looking at him as he walked in.

Aiba scanned around the room, Sho left the room. Aiba sighed again and took a seat on the sofa beside Nino.

“Do you know what happened to Sho-kun?” Jun asked Aiba. Aiba shook his head.

“Must be his girlfriend, she probably dumped him..” Nino said as he played with his DS.

Aiba nodded his head. “I tried calling Emi-chan, but it said that her phone was off. I wanted to talk to her..” Aiba said in a sad tone.

“The batteries on her phone might had died.” Ohno said. Aiba nodded his head again and the dressing room door opened.

“Filming is going to start in a few minutes. Can you come to set now?” The director came in with a big smile on his face.

They all nodded and was worried where Sho had left to. They walked towards the set and they noticed Sho was already sitting on a chair in the studio.

“Okay, today’s guests are here.” The director shouted to them. Arashi nodded their heads and went to greet them.

Sho didn’t feel like greeting the guests. He was still depressed over Emi’s sudden departure. He loved her so much that he would do anything for her.

He couldn’t see Emi for days because of his work and singing. He always wanted to break free from his busy life and run away with Emi to somewhere far away. To get married to her and have a family.

Unfortunately, their engagement is now broken off and Emi is no where to be seen. He wished that he had a time machine to go back in time, to have more time to spend with Emi.

Aiba walked up to Sho and placed a hand on his shoulder.

“It will be okay. You have to move on.” Aiba smiled at him. He looked up and widened his eyes. He knew that Aiba was right. Emi will eventually come back for him. He nodded his head confidently and stood up. Then he walked over to the guests.

On the other hand, Aiba and the other members thought that he had just lost another girlfriend. A girl that wasn’t important in Sho’s life.

Sho hung up and grabbed Emi's wrist. "We have to go." She nodded and they ran to a taxi near by. They drove to a building and Emi asked. "Isn't this the Johnny's building?" He nodded and dragged her to the top office. Johnny Kitagawa's office. Emi was standing beside Sho in Johnny's office. She was scared and afraid of what he will say of their engagement. The big black chair turned around and she saw Johnny-san. "Konbanwa, Nakama-san and Sho-kun." Emi and Sho bowed their heads. They sat on the sofa and Sho said. "Gomen to scare you like that Johnny-san." Johnny-san waved his hand and said. "Well I knew it will come out soon." Both of them smiled and Emi nudged Sho. "Eh? What? I don't understand." Sho giggled and he looked at Johnny-san.

"A few years ago, he asked me if it was okay you two can get married. I wasn't really happy but at the same time I wasn't angry. I knew Sho-kun was still too young to get married at that age.. I agreed but I had asked him if he would keep the wedding a secret. Nakama-san, congratulations. I've seen that you grown into a beautiful and mature lady."Johnny-san smiled. Emi blushed and bowed her head. "As Sakurai's fiance, I will try my best to not distract him from his work." Emi smiled and Sho escorted Emi out of the room.

~*~

When Emi was younger, Aiba used to bring her to his practices and shows. She was excited and always dreamt of being in the spotlight. Unfortunately, no matter how hard she works for something, her dream couldn't come true. In Johnny-san's eyes, he could tell that she was a small star waiting to burst into a shooting star. Everytime she came, she made everyone around her happy and the whole room filled with smiles. Johnny-san knew that she was needed to be beside Arashi through the tough and difficult times. Also she was needed in Sho's life too. Sho couldn't concentrate entirely on his work, he was too depressed from the moment she left. As Arashi's popularity shot up, their true smiles and happiness floated away.

Sho kissed Emi on the lips and said. "I'm so happy. I just want to get married now." Emi grinned and said. "Baka! I need to find out if Okaasan got the news or not." Emi pulled out her cell phone and called her mother. "Okaasan?" Then there was a sudden scream. "KYA! Emi-chan! I heard Sho-kun proposed to you on national television." Emi nodded and said. "Well.. Actually he proposed to me a few years ago. He just proposed to me again so he can tell everyone the news. But he didn't have to tell the whole country.." Emi shot a glare at Sho and Sho placed a hand on his head. "The neighbours have been ringing on my doorbell non-stop. They wanted to know when the wedding is and if you guys need any help." Emi giggled and said. "Okaasan, I love you and I will visit soon, with my fiance." Her mother giggled and said. "Good luck and I'll support you." Emi started to cry and hung up. She fell to the floor and Sho came to her side.

"Emi, are you okay?" Emi nodded and said. "I'm crying because I'm so overjoyed with love." Sho grabbed his handkerchief and gave it to Emi. She wiped her tears and got up to go to the washroom. Emi stared at herself through the mirror. Her eyes became swollen and red. She splashed some cold water and came out. Then she saw Sho leaning against the wall. She walked towards him.

"Sho, today is the best day of my life. It couldn't have happened without you." Emi leaned in and kissed Sho. Then she hugged him. "Today, is the best day of my life too. I get to keep you and my job. I promise to never leave you alone again.." Sho whispered and both of them laughed.

Love is a magical emotion and patience is the key to everlasting love.

Chapter 16

"What is your relationship with Arashi?" A reporter asked Emi. Emi, the director and Arashi were at a press conference for their movie. "Based on the novel, "Our Promise" by the late Mizushima Ken. We're friends." The reporter nodded and another reporter stood up to ask her another question. "Which Arashi member is your ideal guy?" The reporter smirked and Emi smiled. "Sakurai-san. He is smart and sometimes funny. But on the downside, he is too smart for me... Maybe my ideal guy is Jun.." Emi giggled and turned her face to Sho. He was upset but then Emi stuck out her tongue.

"Is the movie exactly like the novel?" Jun nodded and said. " The story of the movie is exactly like the novel. We hope that you will like the movie." The reporter smiled and sat down. "This is the last question for the cast of "Our Promise". " A employee said through the mircophone and the reporter walked towards the mircophone. "Nakama-san, are you planning to act in more movies or will this be your last performance as an actor?" The lady reporter smiled and was ready to write in her notepad.

"I haven't decided if I want to contiune my acting. This is my first movie and it might be my last. For now, I want to concentrate on the present and not the future." The reporters were talking among themselves and Sho suddenly spoke into the mircophone. "I have some news that I want to announce. As you know, the release of the movie had to be delayed until now. Before my busy life as an idol, I was engaged to someone. That person broke our engagement, thinking that it was the right thing to do. I want to tell that person my answer to her question." The crowd roared with voices, talking about Sho and his "engagement".

Sho looked over at Emi and walked towards her. Arashi and everyone moved to the side while Emi stood there frozen. Sho got down on his knees and said. "I love you. Will you marry me again, Nakama Emi-san?" The reporters and crowd screamed and gasped. The reporters were taking photos and filming the whole scene. Emi nodded in excitement and Sho pulled out the ring that he gave to her a few years ago.

Sho placed the ring on Emi's finger and everyone surrounded them. "Emi-chan, congrats!" Jun said. Emi nodded and she looked at Sho. Emi whispered to Sho. "Nice way of telling everyone we know and the whole country..." Sho shrugged his shoulders and said. "Well, you wanted both of us to be together when the news was announced.." Emi sighed and smiled. "Baka!" Emi kissed him on the lips and he kissed her back.

Aiba and Ohno were standing together and Aiba asked Ohno. "Are you happy that Emi-chan and Sho-chan are getting married?" Ohno nodded and Aiba asked. "Are you okay, leader?" Ohno nodded his head again and said. "I have an urge to go fishing today.." Aiba patted his back and said. "How about we handle these two love fish first?" Ohno nodded again and smiled. "Masaki! Masaki!" Aiba heard Emi calling him. "Congrats, Emi-chan. So, when is the wedding?" Emi giggled and said. "Gomen, for all those stuff I said earlier. I lost my memory and the only thing that was in my head was you. I'll love you and always be your best friend." Aiba smiled and hugged Emi.

Both Emi and Sho walked out of the banquet hall to find more reporters trying to find out about their wedding. "Sho, what should I say to them?" Emi whispered to Sho. Emi was happy but at the same time, angry, because he announced to the whole country of their engagement. While Sho was thinking of what to say to them, his cell phone rang. He picked up his phone and answered. Emi saw him nodding and saying "Hai." The reporters were there looking at him. They wanted to know why Sho looked so serious on the phone.

Sho was surprised by Emi's move. "Emi..-chan.." Sho said. She giggled and said. "I remember." Sho blinked his eyes. "When I'm sleeping, I always dream about a guy that I was in love with. At first I thought it was Masaki-kun but then when you mumbled in your sleep. I suddenly remebered that you were the guy that I was in love with. I don't know but I feel like we have a special bond together." Sho smiled and hugged Emi. "I missed you so much. Gomen, for everything I did to you." Sho whispered and Emi hugged him back. "Gomen, for the sadness I cause you too."

On the other side of the door, Aiba was about to come back in the room. Through the window, he noticed that Sho and Emi were hugging. An arrow went through his heart but then healed quickly because he knew, he could never tear them apart. Aiba smiled and sat down on a bench. He was feeling relieved and happy for them. Even though Emi was his first love, he knew Emi wasn't right for him. "Yokatta..." Aiba muttered and walked away from Emi's room.

Aiba walked outside of the hospital and called someone. "Ne, do you want meet at the cafe?" Aiba nodded and smiled. "Yeah. A heavy burden has finally floated away from my heart." Aiba listened to the person on the other end. "Okay, I'll meet you soon." Aiba closed his phone and slowly drifted away in the crowd of people walking by the hospital. Letting his feelings for Emi float away.

~*~
"Is that all you remember?" Sho asked. Sho pulled back from the hug and looked at her. She nodded and said. "My head kind of hurts but I'm still okay." Sho nodded and said. "Are you okay to handle a lot of memories?" She nodded and said. "Hai. I'm ready."

Everyday Sho would help her remember some of her memory. Her mother often came in to help Sho out. Emi had to stay at the hospital for a few weeks until they were sure that she was fine to go outside. Sho explained to Emi the movie and her role. Also when she came back from Canada and the events that happened in between.

Emi was hyper when she was finally released from the hospital. It has been 2 months since she fainted. After she was released, she directly had a meeting with the director and he was going to explain what will happen with the movie.

"Nakama-san, pleased to meet you again." The director smiled and waved his hand so she could sit down. Sho had a day off from work and wanted to come with Emi, to make sure that her role wasn't going to be taken over by someone else.

"Nakama-san, it has been 2 months since the accident and the movie has been delayed until you were able to film again. We have also changed the movie release date as well. I do not want to cast another person for the role as Minami Karen. I think you are the only person that can suit this role because of your past experience. I want this movie to move people of all ages." Emi nodded and smiled. "So when is the filming date?" The director laughed and Sho looked at Emi and smiled.

The director looked through his planner and said. "How about tomorrow? I'll call everyone up and we'll try to get this movie finish." Emi nodded. "I'll call everyone else from Arashi to tell them the filming." Sho said and pulled out his phone. He dialed someone and said. "Oh-chan, we're going to film the movie tomorrow, tell Nino-chan." Sho hung up and called someone else. "Aiba-chan, we're going to start filming again tomorrow." Sho nodded and called Jun. "Jun-kun, Emi is ready for the movie. We're going to start filming tomorrow." Emi rejoiced and got up to see the scenery from the window.

"Wow, I haven't seen this side of Tokyo before.." Emi gasped and saw the technology had changed. "It's like visiting a new country." Sho came from behind and said. "What are you looking at?" Emi turned around and said. "The beautiful and wonderful city, that I will always love." Sho smirked and said. "How about me? Will you always love me?" Emi grinned and said. "I don't know.. I might lose my memory again and love Masaki again." Sho frowned and Emi giggled. "Our souls are bound by a thread of fate. We can never be apart, we are always tied to each other." Sho turned his frown to a smile and hugged Emi.

Chapter 14

Days passed after the engagement. Sho found out that he'll be busier than before. Arashi got a new show and Sho got a lead in a stageplay. Sho got more popular as an idol from Arashi. He started to stop seeing Emi. Emi became sad and depressed. Emi started to get sick as days passed by without seeing Sho. Then Emi became too sad to do anything. The company that she was working for, fired her and her house became a mess. Emi's mother started to recoginze her change of mood and decided to take her to see her relatives in Montreal, Canada.

Emi started to stop wearing her wedding ring that Sho gave to her. Emi wanted to keep it a secret from everyone including her mother until her and Sho can announce the news together, but unfortunetly that couldn't be done. Emi placed the ring back into the box and placed it in a cardboard box. She decided to write a letter so Sho wouldn't be scared.

Dear Sho,

When I'm with you, I feel so happy and energtic like when I was a kid. My heart always goes "doki-doki" when we're together. You put such a big act on television, with your brains and common sense. While when you're with me, I notice that you become a funny baka. That's why I love you. Your personality just fills my heart with joy.

I was so suprised that you asked me to marry you. At first I thought you were joking around but you were serious. I was shocked and I can imagine my face at that moment. I bet you were giggling at my expression.

The reason that I'm writing this letter because I always felt, in my heart that we'll never be able to stay together. You have your own spotlight and I have mine. I know that your job is more important than our relationship. I understand that. That is why, I'll be away for awhile. I just want to take my mind off of things. Please understand my decision. I will always love you, from the bottom of my heart.

In this package, contains the special ring that you gave me. Please hold onto it until I come back. I want you to tell me what is your decision for our relationship. Please think it over and I'll be ready for your answer when I come back.

-Emi

Emi packed up the box, wrote his address and put stamps on the box. She gave it to the post office to mail it and then Emi left for Canada.

Sho recieved the box a few weeks later. He became frustrated, angry and sad for what he did to Emi. He cried for a whole day because it was too late for Emi to see him. Sho waited for weeks and Emi still haven't contacted him or the other members of Arashi. Sho became busier than ever and stopped thinking about Emi for 3 years. Until she came back.

~*~

"Why did I ignore you? I can't believe I did that to you." Sho said in his sleep. Then he felt a poke on the head. Sho woke up to see Emi smiling at him. "You look so cute when you're asleep." Sho sat up and rubbed his eyes, making sure there wasn't anything on his face. "You make cute snore sounds. Did you know that?" Sho shook his head and asked. "Did my snoring wake you up?" Emi smiled again and said. "It's already night time. I got 5 hours of sleep, when I woke up I notice that you were sleeping also." Sho smiled and tried to hide his sadness from his beloved Emi.

Emi leaned in closer to Sho and gave a kiss on his lips. Then she said. "Arigato, Sho."

"Masaki! Sho-kun!" Emi shouted as she saw Sho and Aiba walking into her room. "You look different Sho-kun. Did you lose weight?" Sho shook his head and pulled out the stool, then sat down beside Emi's bed. "I'm too busy to go work out. I just finished filming a movie. I guess, I did work out..." Emi giggled and quickly turned her face to Aiba. "Masaki, when I get out. Do you want to go out for lunch?" Emi smiled and Aiba was shocked. He took his eyes off of Emi and looked at Sho. He noticed that Sho was staring at Emi.

"Emi-chan, let's concentrate on the present right now. Me and Sho-kun are worried about your health. Please have some rest." Emi pouted and then suddenly she yawned. Emi laid down and closed her eyes. Aiba slowly got up and left Sho and Emi alone. Sho slowly grabbed Emi's hand and held it to his cheek. "I missed you so much. Please remember our memories." Sho muttered. Sho blinked his eyes and started to fall asleep. He yawned and laid his head on Emi's bed.

"Sho! Sho! Look! Look!" Emi shouted and pointed to the little fishes that were swimming in the lake. Emi and Sho decided to spend a few days in Okinawa. "Emi, I'm going to catch one for you." Emi bursted out into laughter and said. "Sho, your athletic skills are below average. You are Mr. Perfect to everything except for your physical abilities." Sho smiled and said. "I'll prove to you that I can catch a fish. Let's make a bet. If I catch a fish then we're going to get married. If I lose then I'll..." Emi interrupted him. "You'll have to drink a juice that I will make." Emi smirked and Sho sighed. "Fine. Okay, let's start fishing!" Emi clapped her hands and sat on the sand, while Sho was trying hard to catch a fish.

After a few hours later, the sun was about to set. "Yatta! I got one!" Emi looked at Sho and noticed that he caught a fish. Meanwhile, the beautiful sunset was shining on Sho. Emi nodded and smiled. "I lost.." Sho laughed and Emi started to get cold. "Ne, Sho. Let's go back to the hotel. You can let the poor fish go." Sho looked at the fish and slowly placed the fish under the water, then the fish swam away.

Emi and Sho walked to the hotel and noticed the time. "Wow, it's pretty late. Are you hungry?" Sho asked Emi. She nodded and Sho dragged her to a fancy restaurant near the hotel. They ordered their meals and Emi started the conversation. "Ne, Sho. That bet we made earlier... Were you serious?" Sho smiled and leaned in closer to Emi. "Maybe.." Sho crossed his arms and he was starting to be a difficult child, who doesn't want to eat his vegetables. "Sho, I'm being serious here. This will decide my future and yours too." Sho grinned and took out something from his pocket. A small box.

Emi gasped and stared into Sho's eyes. Sho opened the box and Emi could see a small diamond ring. He took the ring out and grabbed Emi's left hand. Then he said. "Will you marry me?" Emi was so speechless, that she nodded her head for her answer. Slowly, Sho put the ring on her finger and Emi was ecstatic to tell everyone about the news.
