The results were posted up and she checked if her name was on the paper. She went to the N section. Naka...Naka...Nakama Emi. Emi got through. She jumped and then she went outside to grab a drink. She bought a bottle of water and went back to the audition room. About 20 people still remained, including herself.
"Okay, congratulations to you guys who are left. Now we will give you a part of the script and you will have to act it out with Arashi. Then the director along with Arashi will pick out a girl that will become Minami Karen." The staff member smiled and left the room. Everyone started to talk and the director came in with sheets of paper. Emi nodded when she received the paper and then the director shouted. "The paper you have, contains a passage from the script. Try your best and surprise us." The director smiled and left.
Emi sat down and stared at the sheet of paper. This was the part of the movie where she tells the 5 boys that she is going to die in a few days. Karen tries really hard to not be really emotional and tell the news slowly. She wants them to understand her condition and doesn't want them to feel sad for her.

"Nakama Emi-san, your turn." The staff member shouted. Emi nodded and walked to where Arashi was standing. It felt that they were trying to forget that they knew her. Emi sighed and bowed her head. "Pleased to meet you. Yorushiku onigaishimasu." She smiled to them and they bowed their heads. "Please start." The director shouted and Emi nodded her head.
Arashi was standing in different places. Pretending that the stage was a park. Emi followed her script. "It's been 16 years since we made our promise with each other." Emi tried to be in her character. Giving a happy feeling but at the same time sadness. Jun looked at everyone and said. "Yeah, it feels like we're meeting each other for the first time." Emi smiled and Nino said. "Everyone changed. Especially you, Karen." Nino looked at Emi. Emi looked at Nino and then suddenly changed her mood. She let her head fall and stares at the floor. Then Emi muttered. "I have to tell you guys the truth about our meeting." Ohno with his blank face suddenly turned his head to Emi and said. "I thought the reason we met because of our promise with each other." Ohno turned angry and shouts. "What do you mean "the truth"?" Emi looked up and she became hesitated. Emi felt a bit scared of Ohno's shout.
Sho gave a friendly smile and said. "Yeah, our promise 16 years ago. Didn't we meet up because of that?" Emi shook her head and let her head fall again, her hands were in front of her face. "Its not only our promise that we met up. My true intention was to tell you guys that I'll be going to heaven in a few days." Emi slowly raised her head and looked at everyone. Jun laughed a bit and smiled. "Going to heaven? Is that a new joke?" Jun was laughing a bit while Emi said in a serious tone. "No. I have cancer and I only have a few days to live." Emi stared at everyone's eyes and Arashi at the same time turned their smiles into sad faces. Everyone looked at each other. Emi placed her hand on her other arm and the others just looked at the floor.
Aiba shouted. "Honto ni? We should take you to the hospital now. Find doctors to treat your disease. Why is this happening?" Aiba ffell to the floor and placed his hands on his head. Nino became frustrated and said. "Are you serious? You're telling us now?" Nino made a fist with his hand and Sho shook his head. Looking like he was regretting something. "I should have stayed in Tokyo so we could spend more time with each other." Sho kicked the floor and Ohno looked down. "I can't believe this is happening.."
Jun came up to Emi and said. "Can't you travel to somewhere and find a cure for your cancer. We only met each other today." Jun placed his hands on her shoulders. Emi slowly pushed Jun off and said with sadness. "Minna, that's why I called you guys up. My last precious days will be with you guys. It will give me good memories when I move on. Please, follow my wish. You're my precious friends and I want to cherish my time with you guys before I die." Emi tried to smile and she put her pinky finger out. Arashi looked at her and Emi continued her line. "This will be our last promise with each other. That we will spend a few days together and try to recollect our pasts."
Arashi turned their sad faces to smiles and chuckled. They held their pinkies out, Emi used her pinky and made the promise. Emi smiled cheerfully like she was Karen.
There was a sudden clap from the director and then from everyone else. They applauded and everyone felt so moved after watching an emotional scene. She smiled and bowed her head. Then she walked in the crowd of girls waiting for the final announcement. Many girls went up to Emi and complimented her on her acting skills. Emi was exhausted that she only smiled and said. "Arigato."
